Lisa Gutow Berman

Lisa Berman, Principal and Partner

Led by its Founder and Principal Designer, Lisa Berman, Studio Gutow creates spaces with a unique take on modern design grounded in history. Lisa’s goal is to bring authenticity to each project. Not only in the selection of furniture, lighting and art but in the use of a natural palette of materials and textures. Lisa draws on her love of antiques, textiles, contemporary art, both modern and antique furniture, and her latest discoveries to deliver an elevated richness to each interior. Fusing a modern approach with traditional design, Studio Gutow creates living spaces that are collected, personal and above all, beautiful.

Lisa's design sensibility was profoundly formed by her parents; her father was an avid collector. Weekends and holidays were spent sourcing 18th, to mid-century finds. Her childhood was shaped by his treasure hunting. Because of this, she developed a love for understanding a piece's provenance at a young age, her aesthetic is deeply rooted in her desire to incorporate a little bit of history in every space.

Lisa worked for Polo Ralph Lauren, Holly Hunt, and various boutique design firms in Chicago and San Francisco. A native of Franklin, Michigan, she attended the Cranbrook Kingswood School, a world-renowned incubator for notable design and award-winning architecture. Lisa received her design degree at Harrington College of Design in Chicago and currently lives in Laguna Beach, CA with her husband and two children.

Melissa Rohani

Melissa Rohani, Director and Partner

Melissa works closely with Lisa throughout the design process and business activities. With a background in marketing, partnerships and business development, Melissa leveraged her passion for design to launch an online based boutique primarily servicing interior designers.  Traveling and sourcing worldwide, from Asia to Europe and South America, Melissa loved curating antique, vintage and modern lighting, furniture and textiles. The two met while Lisa was sourcing for her own clients and then began working on projects together up and down the California coast. After finishing a long-term project together they decided to team up… BIG things to come!
